Run a Marinette County Case Search

A Marinette County case search works best once you know which court holds the file. Circuit court records sit in one statewide system, searchable by party or business name, case number, or added filters. Municipal citations are different. They stay out of circuit results unless a transfer or appeal moves them, so read the court name on your citation first. A search returns public docket data, not every filed paper. For copies, or for dates and entries that need confirmation, the local clerks remain the source.

Searching Cases by Name

Use WCCA Simple Search, the official route for a Marinette County name search. Pick Marinette County when you know the venue. A surname needs at least three characters, and statewide instructions allow a wildcard. First and middle names help narrow common results. A birth date only works when paired with a name. Businesses get their own search option.

  1. Open WCCA Simple Search and choose Marinette County or Statewide.
  2. Enter at least the surname or business-name characters the form requires. Add a wildcard only as instructed.
  3. Add first name, middle name, or birth date when lawful and useful. Complete the CAPTCHA.
  4. Review the result list, then open the case-number link that matches the county, type, and filing context.
  5. Use Next, Previous, or Return to Search Results as needed. Record the search date.

Marinette Simple and Advanced Search

Simple Search covers a known party, business, case number, or name with a birth date. Advanced Search goes further, with controls for county, case group, status, filing date, citation, agency, attorney, class code, and offense date. Pick Marinette County before using local agency filters. More correct detail means fewer, faster results.

Broad filters carry rules. Filing and offense date ranges cannot exceed 30 days, a broad case type needs another criterion, and a class-code search paired with a county needs one more qualifying field. CAPTCHA is an access condition rather than a charge, and WCCA may ask for reverification after repeated searches.

The Advanced Search source lays out those extra filters.

Those controls suit a hunt with a known case group, status, agency, citation, or short date window. The advanced route earns its extra steps there.

Searching by Case Number

A Wisconsin circuit case number has three parts. There is a four-digit year, a two-letter case type, and a six-digit sequence, as in 2024CF000001. Here 2024 marks the filing year, CF means criminal felony, and 000001 is the sequence. WCCA can expand some shortcuts, like a short year, type, and number. Even so, the full format is the best starting point.

The codes repeat across the court docket. CF is criminal felony. CM is criminal misdemeanor. CT is criminal traffic, TR traffic, FO forfeiture, CV civil, SC small claims, FA family, and PR or IN probate categories. A municipal citation is not automatically a WCCA case number. Reformatting a city citation does not turn it into a circuit case.

Marinette Probate Case Search Cutoff

Probate searches hit a local time boundary in Marinette County. WCCA carries public probate case information from 1994 forward. Anything older, along with historical searches and copy requests, belongs to the Register in Probate. That office keeps probate records, wills, guardianships, protective placements, civil commitments, and related files. Several of those record types are confidential. So a blank WCCA result on an old estate points you to that specialized probate channel. It does not mean no file exists. When you call, give a name, an approximate year, and your exact copy or index need.

Narrowing Marinette Name Results

Too many name results? Keep the correct spelling and add Marinette County. Then layer in a first name. Add middle detail, case type, status, or a valid date window. Never pick a record just because the name looks close. Confirm the county, court, case type, filing date, and public role shown.

If nothing appears, try Statewide, since venue may be uncertain. Check the exact case-number pattern and any alternate spelling the form permits. A missing result is not proof that no case exists. Sealed, confidential, juvenile, protective, older, or purely municipal matters may never surface through this route.

What a Case Search Returns

A Marinette County case search can carry you from a result row to full public case detail. WCCA may show the county, number, case type, class code, filing date, status, branch or court official, public party roles, attorneys, dated court record events, settings, disposition fields, and public financial entries. Case type and access rules decide what appears.

Case NumberThe unique circuit key, such as 2024CF000001.
Style / PartiesThe public caption and roles shown under access rules.
Case TypeThe broad group and code, such as CV, SC, or CF.
Filed DateThe date the case entered the system.
StatusClosed, Filed only, Open, or Reopened.
Court Record EventsDated entries for public filings, orders, hearings, and outcomes.

An event label is not the document itself. eFiling is not an open library of every filed paper. Note the case number, event date, and document label, then ask the Clerk of Circuit Court for a public copy.

Marinette County Number 38

WCCA case-detail routes use a county routing value, and Marinette is county number 38. That number helps the system direct a case detail request. It is not part of the public case number, though. It has no place inside YYYYXX######.

The Wisconsin Circuit Court Access source is the statewide landing interface. It serves Marinette County case searches.

The statewide landing page and the county filter work as one system. Marinette has no separate county public circuit docket viewer of its own.

Statewide vs County Case Search

For Marinette circuit cases, both statewide and county paths run through WCCA. Statewide sweeps all participating Wisconsin counties, while selecting Marinette County narrows the same public system. No Marinette-only portal offers deeper public documents. For counter help, phone access, a courthouse terminal, or copy requests, the local clerks are the separate channel.

Need the paper itself? That part stays with the clerk. Call Carrie Brazeau's Clerk of Circuit Court office at 715-732-7450. Or visit the counter at 1926 Hall Avenue, Marinette. A courthouse WCCA station also lets you search the same public case information in person. If you mail a request, list the case, the event, the date, and the copy type. Include your payment and how you want it returned.

Marinette eFiling Case Search Boundary

Wisconsin's CCAP eCourts eFiling system serves the people who file. That means attorneys, parties, and self-represented filers in Marinette County circuit court. It is not, however, a public document viewer. For a Marinette County court docket, public users should search WCCA instead. There, an eFiled item may show up only as an event line or filing label in the case record. No downloadable copy is attached. Parties and their attorneys get broader access through their eFiling accounts. That view is one the general public never sees. Need the actual filing? Write down the event name and date. Then ask the Marinette County Clerk of Circuit Court about inspection, a plain copy, or a certified copy. The clerk handles all three.

Marinette Civil Judgment Search

WCCA Judgment Search gives docketed civil judgments their own screen. Party names and dates are searchable there. Just know the detail you get is not a full civil case file. A judgment match works best as a pointer. It sends you back to the related case record and, if you need a certified paper, to the clerk.

The official judgment-search source appears next.

Marinette County case search civil judgment interface

This screen earns its keep for a judgment-focused query. Just remember that it does not show every filing, claim, or order sitting in the underlying matter. The full docket still lives in the case record itself.

Marinette Case Search Statuses

Advanced Search offers four status filters. Each one describes where a case sits in the system, nothing more. A status does not speak to the merit of any claim or charge in the Marinette County docket.

Open
The case remains active in the public system.
Closed
The case has a closing status, though later public events may exist.
Filed only
The filing is recorded without the same later activity shown for a progressed case.
Reopened
A once-closed case has accepted later activity.

Always pair a status label with the newest events on the Marinette County court docket. A case marked “Closed” does not say who won, and a “reopened” entry does not wipe out what happened before.

Access and Restricted Cases

Wisconsin access rules cap what WCCA shows the public. Sealed records, confidential filings, and protected identifiers stay off the screen. So do most juvenile matters and details tied to victims, witnesses, and jurors. In Marinette County, guardianship, protective-placement, and mental-health files are confidential through the Register in Probate. A restriction can also be narrow. It may hide one document or a single event while the rest of the docket stays public.

Three statutes govern these walls. Wis. Stat. §801.19 covers protected filing information. Wis. Stat. §801.21 sets out how a motion to seal works. For juveniles, the controlling rule is Wis. Stat. §938.396. Remember this when a case lookup comes back empty. A blank screen proves nothing about whether a filing exists.

Public search boundary: WCCA supplies public case information, not guaranteed completeness, certified proof, or open access to every eFiled document.

When a record is off limits, ask the right clerk about a public substitute or a lawful request route. Staff cannot simply hand over confidential content, so do not put them in that spot. For circuit court material that is public, the Marinette County court records process helps you tell a docket entry apart from the file behind it.

Marinette Venue Case Search Fallback

A no-result screen is a cue to check venue, not to give up. Not every case sits in circuit court. City ordinance cases, parking matters, and many municipal traffic tickets live with the Marinette, Peshtigo, Niagara, or joint municipal court clerk. Those cases may never get a WCCA circuit number at all. Federal matters run through PACER. Qualifying circuit appeals and independent state trial cases appear in WCCA. Before you change search terms, read the court name. Still unsure which court holds the record? The court name is printed on the citation, summons, or notice. Ask the issuing court or the clerk directly. That one question pays off. It keeps a municipal payment page from being mistaken for real case detail on a court docket.

When Marinette Search Becomes Request

WCCA answers most docket questions. At some point, though, a docket search turns into a request. That moment comes when you need a filed paper itself. Think of a transcript, a certified copy, a current court date, or an entry you cannot decode. Jot down the case number first. Then pin down the event by its label and date. Tell the clerk of court whether you want an ordinary copy or a certified one. The clerk can walk you through access and fees. Legal advice, though, is off the table.

Probate records run on their own track. Public probate information from 1994 forward sits in WCCA. The Register in Probate handles the older index work and probate copy requests for Marinette County. A municipal case stays with that municipal clerk unless it later lands in circuit court. Federal cases live in PACER, not WCCA. Picking the right office the first time pays off. It beats stretching one search system past what it was built to do.

Note: Keep a record of the date you ran each search. Confirm anything consequential with the office that holds the original court record.
